What’s your ‘One Big Thing’ this year?
Hey guys,
If I asked you what is the one big thing you want to achieve this year?, what would it be?
It’s a question that I have asked my team to think long and hard about, and something that I will drive each of them to think about and bring about through clarity, support and most of all massive action.
One big thing is more than just a desire; it’s a goal. It’s a clearly spelled out intention that drives you to think about what life would be like if you focused a bit harder, went the extra mile, pushed yourself a bit further, were a little less compromising. It’s a big goal, a big thing that would change your life.
How do you achieve this One Big Thing?
Simply work backwards from the goal and focus on doing the little things.
This year sees me achieving my helicopter pilot license. It’s a big thing. It will take 60 hours of actual flying, 7 exams from 9 different books, a commitment of a half day every week for 6-9 months plus 2 hours study per week. It’s something that very few people in the world have ever done yet it gives so much freedom.
I have mastered the ground, l have mastered underwater, now l am mastering the skies, and with the help of Richard Branson I will master space too. :-)
You may not want to fly, scuba or end up in outer space but I challenge you to pick one big thing this year and achieve it.

What did you really achieve last year?
Think back to last year. What did you really achieve? Was it just another year in your calendar or did it see you doing something amazing?
Maybe you did? If so, that’s fantastic! But yesterday is the past and as they say when your past is more exciting that your future, you’re a has-been. That may seem a bit harsh but I speak with so many people who unfortunately seem to have few goals for the future. People with big, active goals are inspirational. I love spending time with them.
So pick something big, something amazing, something you’ll look back on and be proud you achieved. I always think of how my grandchildren will think about the things l have done. (Now I don’t have grandchildren yet but I can still try to imagine what they might think of my achievements.) If they won’t remember then perhaps l need to think bigger.
So what’s your big thing? The team and I want to help you achieve it!
Live with passion,
Brett Wood
